FunFriday15 Dinosaur Museum

I was so sick with the flu this week. Yes thats the nasty, up every hour, throwing up, kind of flu. I remembered how much I hate feeling nauseous and throwing up. I finally left the house Wednesday night when Brice got home from school to go to Walmart. Very exciting I know. But poor Cade hadn't left the house since Sunday. I was feeling up for it and figured it was a good week to do something extra fun to get out of the house and see something new. I decided to head over to the Dinosaur Museum at Thanksgiving point.

At the entrance
What a perfect face for this picture ha
Love the resemblance in the fohawk and spikes ha
We met Brice in Riverton for his lunch break after the museum and treated ourselves to Training Table.

Um what to get? what to get?
Mommy and Cade
Daddy and Cade. What cuties!
Guys, being a baby is hard work ahah
It still amazes me now when I am out and there are no changing tables in the bathrooms. Im still not sure what people are thinking is going to happen at a family restaurant. We made due and changed him in the trunk even though it was a bit cold for a bare bum :) It was a fun day and so nice to do something together. I love my little family. They are the best.

FunFriday 14 Happy Birthday!!

Happy Birthday Uncle Marky!!

We went to Provo to see uncle Mark for his birthday. We first met at his apartment, then lunch at In n Out, and then walked around the mall.  Brice met us there after his class and we went to Cold Stone together. We love you Mark!!! It was so fun hanging out and talking. You are a great brother and uncle! Hope you had a great birthday.

FunFriday the 13th

This particular Friday had been just one of those days where all I wanted to do was stay home. The cold is so miserable sometimes and with a baby its sometimes not worth all the hassle. Brice got home from work a little early and wanted us to go see him fly his plane. He likes to go to this park near our house. Isnt it a cool open place? I like where we live (Saratoga Springs, Utah) with all the hills and how you can see the Y and the lake on the other side.  The snow is actually nice when you are looking at it from inside a warm heated car.

Im sad I couldnt get any decent shots with it in the air. But its up there I promise.

FunFriday12 Family Dinner

Alright we are back in action. With the holidays and our trip to California our FunFridays kind of just became one full fun week. But this last Friday was official. Dad and Laura were in town and we went out to eat with the family and friends. If you havent been to El Mexiquense in American Fork and have their al pastor, you should. Amazing. Ill just let the pictures tell the story.

Love it! Proudly worn.

Love my family! It was fun to hang out and enjoy being together with friends. Love that I have family close by. Just wish all my family lived here too.

Happy 2013!!

Boy it sure seems like New Years Eve was a while ago and now I have to actually think about what we did :) Brice worked that day so when we got home we decided to go out to eat to make it a little more special. We had a very nice gift card from one of my previous students to Zupas, so we went there. Cade was grumpy and tired and maybe cold too because I remember it being bitter cold that day. Not as relaxing as one might hope, but we laughed about it and it was all good. Oh life as a parent :)

One tradition we have on the Rosell side is to dance around the house to an old school song called, "Enjoy Yourself." Not sure when or why it started but we do it every year at my grandmas and its a lot of fun. So of course I had to do that tradition with Cade and get it on video ahah. Im ridiculous sometimes, i know. Then it was bath and bed for the little nino and time for us to relax!!

Oh I almost forgot..we also did our THIRD annual Life Story page ahah.  Heres Cade's. He's done alot in his short 8 months of life I tell ya. Be born for one. Thats kind of a

big deal.

Then on the back we wrote our favorites for the year and our goals :) It is fun to read the ones from the previous year and remember and laugh about things.  I hope this is a tradition we can keep doing.

We had eggnog (not eggnog fizzes as they do at my grandma rosell's house. I still hold to the belief that eggnog and cherry 7up are not a good combo ha) and watched the pre-ball dropping show. Not sure if was the official one or not..shows how much I know. I just found it on the internet and it worked :) We stayed up until New Yorks middnight...took a silly picture (Brice's tradition idea which i think is fabulous to take a picture of our family every yr at midnight), each let off one firecracker...

And had a big smooch of course!! (sensored ah)

Happy New Years!! Im very conservative on my goals this year haha not trying to be too ambitious and set myself up for failure.  My two goal main goals include what I wrote I would give Jesus for Christmas: Continue writing a happy/grateful moment everyday and keep reading my scriptures and track in my calendar. And a few others but those are the two main ones :)

Disneyland

Baby boy is finally asleep for his nap and its time to catch up on the blog! We had a fun time at Disneyland the day after my grandpa's memorial service. He worked at Disneyland for a while after retirement so we went to remember him and celebrate his life in the place he loved the most.

The only thing I wish was different was that Brice could have been there and I saw more of my extended family.  The night before Cade threw up and like last time he was sick, it was no fun!! He had a hard time going back to sleep. My mom didn't get much sleep either because she could hear him across the hall and came in to help.  Everyone was meeting at 7:30 in the morning. We were all slow getting ready, kind of just waiting it out to see how Cade was doing so we missed them.

Thankfully he never threw up again and we got to the park. It was so insanely busy it was hard to go anywhere in the park. It looked like just a wave of people everywhere!  So the business, being late, and poor cellphone service, we never were able to meet up with my aunts, uncles, and cousins. It was sad. I did finally see a couple aunts and cousins randomly at one bathroom I had gone into while everyone else (mom, kristen, and brothers) were waiting their 2 plus hr wait for the new cars ride.  It was fun to see them.

ha this was so funny.  It got turned around and when we looked down at him he was holding up the flap looking around.

Celebrating Grandpa's Life

The day after Christmas we woke up at 2:30 am. Yes, thats AM as in 2:30 in the morning (and thats after going to bed after 11...we are crazy!!) to get on a flight to California. It started off a bit rough when Cade started crying on the plane before take off. Its 5:50am mind you, everyone is snoozing, its dead silent except for a little kid close to us making little noises. Cade was so tried, and when he gets tired he gets so fidgety and keeps turning and graping everything. He started crying and wouldnt take a bottle or binky. It probably wasnt really too long but it felt like forever. Thankfully he fell asleep and was out for a good 40 minutes. I loved just holding him asleep. I dont do that much at home. So it was really nice.

We landed in Las Vegas and got off to get on our next plane. We had a whole row to ourselves! So nice! I buckled Cade in next to me by the window. He looked so big sitting there in his own seat while he opened his little plastic fish book. It was my happy moment of the day! So cute! This flight was much better. More room and happier baby!

Mom and Kristen picked us up at the airport and we headed to grandmas. We rested there and both got a good nap until it was time for my Grandpa Garfields funeral service. It started with going to my Aunt Kakalas house. With almost all my cousins, 4 aunts and 4 uncles, we headed up to the park to take family pictures. Here are a few pictures of us on our way up to the park.

After pictures we went to the church and had our traditional white elephant game. Every year at my grandpas, we would get together with my moms side of the family and play the white elephant game. My grandpa always contributed the best gifts..always some cool gaget or electronic.  The rules were that after three steals it was safe and you could keep it. Oh and no crying :) It was always a fun time. So we played that game. I wish I had pictures but I was taking care of Cade most of the time and didnt really get to be there. But I did get an awesome (creepy) clown cup and a little kids art set ha :)

Then it was dinner and the memorial service. My grandpa wanted to be cremated so it was not a traditional kind of service. We had an opening song and prayer by my uncle Kevin. It was a beautiful prayer that really touched me. And then my Mom and Aunt Kristina shared what they learned from my grandpa. It was funny and sweet. My grandma died when they were all just kids and my grandpa had to raise 4 girls and 1 boy by himself. He was always a jokester and was just his own kind of person. He loved raising animals and had lots of them! He had a unique laugh and loved to use it :) All the grandchildren sang a Child's prayer and we watched a video of my aunt Kim and uncle Jeff interviewing him. He had Alzheimer the last 10 years are so. He lived with aunt Katie and uncle Val and they took care of him...bless their hearts! Not an easy task at all!! I really respect them for doing that for him.

One thing I never knew about my grandpa was that he got engaged to my grandma on his mission! They were both older....my grandma left after teaching a few years and my grandpa had already graduated college. They were in Tonga as teaching missionaries. Everyday after teaching they would meet (until 5 oclock and then they had to be back in the dorms) One day, 5 minutes to 5, he said to my grandma, "I have a plan. I think we should go back to the states, get married and you can teach for a few years." And she said, "I think that sounds like a good plan." And did they ever kiss before they got engaged? His response, "Heavens no!! We kept all the mission rules!" haha love my grandpa.

I think the memorial service fit my grandpas style perfectly and I think he would have been very happy with it.  All of his children were married in the temple and are very faithful members. He wasn't perfect but he stayed faithful during his trial and his family has been so blessed because of it.  The happiest thing for all of us is to know he gets to be with his sweetheart after nearly 40 years of being apart!
